As you’ll no doubt be aware by now, Bolton Wanderers’ former Arsenal youth team graduate Fabrice Muamba is critically ill in the heart attack centre of the London Chest hospital in Bethnal Green this morning having collapsed on the pitch during the FA Cup quarter final tie with Tottenham last night.

Details on his exact condition are still hard to come by but suffice to say he’s fighting for his life.

The flurry of tributes and well wishes flying in from all corners of the game speak volumes for the regard with which Fabrice is held both as a footballer and as a man. Football can be petty and divisive but it’s at times like this that you realise that Bill Shankly’s most famous quote was wrong.

Of course, now is not the time for the usual Arsenal related ramblings.

All I can offer this morning is my hope that Fabrice pulls through.
